Walker belongs in the pantheon of one-named Huskies. Ray Allen is just Ray. Emeka Okafor is just Meka. Kemba, Calhoun believes, no longer requires a surname.

Nie śledziłem z zapartym tchem tegorocznego marcowego szaleństwa NCAA (podobnie jak poprzednich), gdzieś tam przemknęła mi informacja o tym, kto wygrał i w zasadzie nie dowiedziałbym się wiele o Kembie w najbliższych tygodniach, gdyby nie przypadek. Dzięki koledze redakcyjnemu Markowi Wawrzynowskiemu wpadło mi w ręce specjalne wydanie Sports Illustrated poświęcone triumfowi University of Connecticut (czyli po prostu UConn) w NCAA Tournament 2011.

A w nim pomiędzy efektownymi zdjęciami, opisami wydarzeń, statystykami znalazła się także sylwetka (wersja internetowa) Kemby Walkera, prawdopodobnej przyszłej gwiazdy NBA. Najfajniejszy fragment:

With the score tied at 74 and time running out, Walker had two options on the final play: shoot or whip the ball to forward Jamal Coombs-McDaniel, who had set a screen on Pitt guard Brad Wanamaker and drifted out on the left wing. When Wanamaker stayed with Coombs-McDaniel and 6' 11" Panthers center Gary McGhee switched onto Walker, the UConn guard made his decision. His crossover felled McGhee like timber, and the big man watched from the ground as Walker stepped back and drilled a shot from the top of the key to give the Huskies a 76--74 win. Said Walker, "I wanted to take that shot."

Obejrzałem tylko kilka filmów na youtubie, przeczytałem kilka tekstów i oficjalnie zostałem fanem Kemby.

Najważniejsze pytanie - dlaczego w mock draftach Kemba jest tak nisko (np. na nbadraft.net dopiero 14. miejsce)?

Inna sprawa, że jeśli będzie wybrany w połowie pierwszej rundy, to pewnie nie trafi do outsidera (jak John Wall do Washington Wizards), ale do średniaka, czyli np. do Houston Rockets, Utah Jazz czy Charlotte Bobcats. Albo do Phoenix Suns i Marcina Gortata. Czemu nie?
